More than 2,800 employees across three hospitals that are part of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Catholic Health have ratified new four-year contracts.
Registered nurses and service, technical and clerical staff at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo and Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga, N.Y., voted to approve the agreements, according to an Oct. 15 Catholic Health news release.
The contracts guarantee a minimum 12% wage increase over four years, along with larger shift differentials and higher bonuses for extra hours. Catholic Health said the agreements preserve safe staffing ratios, maintain pension and health benefits, and continue market-leading insurance coverage and a system-leveraged prescription plan.
Negotiations began in March between the hospitals and CWA Locals 1133 and 1168.
The contracts were ratified Oct. 15, and bargaining will begin Oct. 24 for Kenmore Mercy Hospital service and clerical workers, CWA Local 1133 said in an Oct. 15 Facebook post.
