The high engagement levels are due in large part to two aspects of the hospital’s culture, according to the report:
• Involved leadership. Employees who feel listened to and respected are more likely to be engaged in the hospital. “Every employee and physician has my cell phone number,” Diane Freeman, CNO and vice president of St. Luke’s Lakeside, told the Houston Business Journal.
• Employee recognition. The hospital recognizes employees in many ways, including rewarding employees with lunches and gift cards, according to the report. Hospital leadership also shares positive patient feedback with the staff.
