The organizations sent a letter to the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner notifying regulators about the change on Nov. 27.
According to MetroNews, the transaction hit a roadblock when WVU Medicine competitor Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center objected to the deal, threatening to end its relationship with The Health Plan.
WVU Medicine and The Health Plan announced the deal in May.
