Valley General board members said the partnership will focus on bringing more primary care physicians to the area, which has been “critically short” of primary care providers for several years, according to the report.

Valley General initially had a partnership discussion with for-profit operator Capella Healthcare in Franklin, Tenn. However, those talks ended due to Valley General’s financial pressures.

EvergreenHealth’s board is expected to give final approval of the partnership next week. Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Wash.) was the other facility in talks with Valley General.
