Under the partnership, which will begin in spring 2018, UPMC children’s hospital neonatologists and nurse practitioners will provide pediatric services at Mon Health’s newborn nursery, with plans to provide care for the emergency department and inpatient unit.

Mon Health delivers approximately 1,200 babies annually, officials said.

“We are excited about the opportunity to align with Mon Health Medical Center to provide the highest quality of newborn care to families of this region,” said Christopher Gessner, president of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. “We look forward to partnering with them in other areas to improve access to pediatric subspecialty care for children, teenagers and young adults from throughout West Virginia.”
