According to the agreement, the university health system would help expand the facilities and services currently offered by Metro Health. Physicians, community members and upper level management will continue to operate as normal once the proposal is finalized.
The agreement comes a year after Metro Health abruptly ended nearly two-years of negotiations with Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems on a proposed joint venture.
Specifics of the agreement, including the financial terms, have not yet been disclosed. The affiliation agreement is pending regulatory approval.
The two organizations first signed a letter of intent to partner in June.
