The 17 clinics will transition management in spring 2017. The clinics will be rebranded as UHealth Clinic ─ University of Miami Health System at Walgreens. Walgreens will continue to manage the clinics until the transition period begins.

Walgreens will also open pharmacies at three University of Miami Health System facilities. Officials said the company will provide 90-day retail prescription benefits and specialty pharmacy services for university employees and their families.

The partnership between Walgreens and UMHS comes one week after Milwaukee, Wis.-based Aurora Health Care partnered with the pharmacy provider to own, operate and provide clinical services at select Walgreens pharmacies in Wisconsin.

“This collaboration is an important step in UHealth’s commitment to improving the health of our community and access to our high quality clinicians,” said Steven Altschuler, MD, CEO of the University of Miami Health System. “We will provide a seamless and integrated healthcare experience for our patients regardless of where they receive their care across our University of Miami Health System.”
