UHS sells 80-bed hospital to Texas system

San Angelo, Texas-based Shannon Medical Center has acquired River Crest Hospital from King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services, a spokesperson for UHS confirmed to Becker’s.

River Crest is an 80-bed facility in Sana Angelo that provides behavioral health and substance use disorder programs for children, adolescents, adults and military members. Shannon has a 22-bed regional inpatient psychiatric facility that provides behavioral health services for adults and senior adults. Both facilities offer outpatient behavioral health programs.

Shannon aims to expand behavioral health services through facility upgrades, services, technology and equipment as well as additional behavioral health employees and providers. It also plans to add 40 beds to the River Crest campus.  

“This new addition to the Shannon Health System will ensure community members of all ages who struggle with behavioral health and substance abuse issues will have expanded access to specialized care,” Shannon Medical Center President and CEO Shane Plymell said
