Tennova, Covenant, Others Consider Takeover of Claiborne County Hospital

Eight hospitals and healthcare companies have reportedly received a request for proposal to buy or lease Tazewell, Tenn.-based Claiborne County Hospital and its nursing home, according to a Claiborne Progress report.

So far, representatives from Covenant Health and Tennova Healthcare, both based in Knoxville, Tenn., as well as Middlesboro, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare have visited the hospital, according to the report.

More companies are expected to visit soon. Transaction proposals are due by June 6, according to the report. Claiborne County Hospital has been interested in selling or leasing for the past several months.
