Tennessee’s Covenant Health and Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System Announce Merger

Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health and Morristown (Tenn.)-Hamblen Healthcare System have announced plans to merge, according to a report by WBIR News.

Morristown-Hamblen, a non-profit community hospital system, began searching for a partner in 2008 and selected Covenant Health in July 2009, according to the report.
Covenant, also non-profit, will oversee bring its number of affiliated hospitals to eight after the merger is finalized.
The two groups now await government approval for the merger.
