Tenet Healthcare closes $16M sale of Harbor Health Plan

Dallas- based Tenet Healthcare closed its sale of Harbor Health Plan to Trusted Health Plan, a Washington, D.C.-based managed care company.

Here are four things to know about the deal.

1. The transaction was valued at $16 million and closed Feb. 28.

2. Jesse Thomas will helm Harbor as CEO. Prior to joining Harbor, Mr. Thomas served as CEO of Molina Michigan, Molina Ohio and president of WellCare Health Plans’ south division.  

3. Harbor has operated as a health maintenance organization plan in Michigan since 2000.  

4. Trusted, a Medicaid managed care organization, plans to further expand Harbor this year. Trusted looks to build wellness centers in several Michigan counties, including Wayne, Oakland and Macomb.
