Superior Court Judge Rules Rhode Island Hospital Can Start Merger Talks With Caritas

Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein approved a request from Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., to begin merger talks with Boston-based Caritas Christi Health Care, according to a report from WPRI 12 News.

Landmark and Caritas can now begin formal merger negotiations. Landmark will remain under a court-supervised special mastership process while negotiations continue, according to the report.

Officials from Landmark said in the report that a potential merger with Caritas would help to ensure Landmark can provide quality healthcare to northern Rhode Island.
