The agreement will be effective April 1, 2019, when the current lease term with SunLink Health Systems in Atlanta terminates. SunLink has leased the Dexter hospital, called Missouri Southern Healthcare, since around 2000.

The decision to enter into the agreement was unanimous by the foundation’s board, according to the release. Foundation President Darla Grossman said the board considered both a renewal with SunLink and a new lease with SoutheastHealth, ultimately deciding that an arrangement with SoutheastHealth would be best for Dexter and the surrounding communities at this time, according to the release.
