In addition, South Shore will retain control of its budget. These details offer a better view of changes to the hospital’s operations following the potential acquisition, according to the report.

South Shore agreed to become a member of Partners HealthCare in June. The two organizations began discussing the deal in April. According to the deal, South Shore would keep its name, remain an independently licensed, non-profit healthcare provider and maintain its board of directors, medical staff, community connections and fundraising activities.
