If the purchase goes through, St. John’s would become part of the Mercy network and would be linked to St. John’s Hospitals in Springfield and Lebanon, Mo. The partnership would mean that patients could potentially benefit from the system’s electronic medical records system, allowing patients to access their medical records at either facility, according to the report.
The parties still must conduct due diligence, negotiate a final or “definitive” agreement and secure various approvals before the transfer would be completed, and the process could take the next several months, according to the report. Details regarding the letter of intent had not been disclosed due to confidentiality.
