Shuttered Arkansas Hospital Acquired by Kentucky Firm, Will Reopen

Pike County Memorial Hospital in Murfreesboro, Ark., has been acquired by Louisville, Ky.-based New Directions Health Systems for $2 million, according to an Arkansas Business report.

The 32-bed hospital closed last November. It struggled to attract physicians and suffered financially for several years, according to the report.

The hospital is expected to reopen this November. NDHS President Patrick Ayers said the system will focus on attracting more physicians to the rural area.
