Rural Hospital Group bids $6.9M to get Kansas hospital out of bankruptcy

The Rural Hospital Group, a company that specializes in helping financially strapped hospitals, has made a bid to buy Hillsboro (Kan.) Community Hospital out of bankruptcy, according to local news website KCUR.

The company made a $6.9 million “stalking horse bid” for the 15-bed rural Kansas hospital, which means if any other bidders emerge they must at least match the amount Rural Hospital Group submitted.

So far, Rural Hospital Group is the only bidder, according to the report. 

Hillsboro Community Hospital entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March after its previous owner defaulted on bills.
