The governing boards of each school have signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines the merger negotiations. According to the report, the two boards will discuss concerns and issues that have arisen over the previous months.
The merger announcement comes a day after Baylor said it will temporarily suspend construction of a new hospital. The hospital is considered a potential stumbling block standing in the way of a merger, according to the report.
