The two systems signed a memorandum of understanding and are now working on the details of the proposed organization, under which each organization will maintain its own identity and mission.
Snohomish County’s two largest hospitals are owned by either Providence or Swedish, and federal and state regulators are expected to closely look for possible antitrust issues. Although no healthcare organization has objected to the proposed partnership, The Everett Clinic said it plans to “fully participate in the regulatory review process.”
