In addition to facing a Dec. 31 deadline on such projects in the health reform law, the proposed $20 million hospital also faced state legislation, requested by Good Samaritan, that would ban the project outright.
The new joint venture between the hospital and the 40 physician-investors was brokered over the weekend by the speaker of Nebraska’s unicameral legislature and other legislators.
“We’re very pleased with the strides we made today in aligning the goals of local physicians and the hospital,” said Sean Denney, MD, chairman of the planned hospital. “We look forward to further talks and solidifying our relationship.”
