PinnacleHealth, J.C. Blair Progress Toward Partnership

J.C. Blair Health System, based in Huntingdon, Pa., and Harrisburg, Pa.-based PinnacleHealth System have signed a nonbinding memorandum of understanding, a step forward in the two organizations’ ongoing process of forming a partnership, according to a Central Penn Business Journal report.

Both health systems will continue their due diligence and work toward a definitive agreement, according to the report. A target closing date for the deal has not been disclosed.

PinnacleHealth and J.C. Blair are considering clinical affiliations and close corporate alignment in order to expand their offering of high-quality care in the region. They entered into exclusive partnership negotiations in May. In July, the two health systems extended their confidentiality and exclusivity agreement concerning negotiations.

PinnacleHealth’s two acute-care hospitals are Harrisburg (Pa.) Hospital and Community General Osteopathic Hospital, also in Harrisburg. J.C. Blair Health System is comprised of 104-bed J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, a physician group and other services.
