The physicians will pay a total of $8.2 million for a 10 percent ownership stake in a deal that is expected to improve cash flow by aligning the physicians more closely with the hospital.
The hospital’s current owner, Health Management Associates, a for-profit hospital network in Naples, Fla., has launched at least eight such joint ventures since 2007 in Alabama, West Virginia, South Carolina and other southern states.
