Here are four things to know about the agreement.

1. The organizations, which revealed plans in January to enter into a definitive agreement, will build on their existing clinical relationships to expand on their shared goals of improving the health of their communities and improving their population health management initiatives.

2. With the agreement, the parties will work to obtain all necessary regulatory approval to successfully integrate CNE into the Partners system.

3. In February, Partners and CNE announced their intent to include Providence-based Lifespan in their partnership discussions. Officials said May 23 they will continue affiliation discussions with Lifespan during the next several months.

4. Providence-based Brown University, which submitted a rival bid with Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings to take over CNE earlier this year, said it will remain committed to discussions with CNE about improving healthcare in the region.
