Montefiore Medical Center in New York City has received approval from a New York bankruptcy court to acquire New Rochelle, N.Y.-based Sound Shore Health System for $58.6 million, according to a report from The Journal News. 

North Hawaii Community Hospital in Kamuela, Hawaii, has entered into an agreement to consider affiliating with The Queen's Health Systems, the corporate parent of The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, according to the Waimea (Hawaii) Community Association.

This week, Community Health Systems shook up the hospital industry. The Franklin, Tenn.-based hospital company announced it will acquire Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates in a deal valued at $7.6 billion.

In June, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. said it will acquire Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanguard Health Systems for $4.3 billion, and based on documents with Illinois regulatory agencies, Tenet will be paying about $582,000 per bed across Vanguard's four Chicago-area hospitals, according…
