Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System has entered into a definitive agreement to affiliate with L+M Healthcare, the parent organization of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., and Westerly (R.I.) Hospital.

Utah-based Intermountain Healthcare has acquired the St. Louis-based group purchasing organization Amerinet, according to a St. Louis Business Journal report.

Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System is looking to complete its merger with Riverhead, N.Y.-based Peconic Bay Medical Center by January 2016, according to a RiverheadLOCAL  report.

Robert Wood Johnson Health System, which has flagship hospital campuses in New Brunswick, N.J., and Somerset, N.J., and Barnabas Health, based in Orange, N.J., have signed a definitive agreement to merge, creating the largest health system in the state.

Though the 2010 healthcare reform law was supposed to promote competition among insurers, the recent influx of mergers has left consumers with fewer choices, according to the LA Times.
