The University of Louisville (Ky.) completed its acquisition of KentuckyOne Health from Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health on Nov. 1.

Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital filed a certificate of need with the state last week to make Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center its parent organization, according to the Albany Business Review.

Citing increased pressures and competition, Rome, Ga.-based Floyd Health System plans to join Charlotte-based Atrium Health by the end of 2020. 

A joint venture between Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and LHC Group, a home healthcare provider in Lafayette, La., is expanding to three more states, the two organizations announced Nov. 5. 

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health has signed an agreement with Wake Forest Baptist Health and Wake Forest University, both in Winston-Salem, N.C., to create a "unique and transformative academic healthcare system."

Medical Properties Trust, a real estate investment firm, will purchase the real estate assets of 10 acute care hospitals from Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health for $700 million. 

Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health can now proceed with its plan to buy Hardin Memorial Health in Elizabethtown, Ky., after a physician opposed to the deal agreed to drop a lawsuit, according to local news station WDRB.

The California Department of Justice denied a proposed merger between nonprofits Adventist Health System/West and St. Joseph Health System Oct. 31, stating it's not in the public's interest.

In an effort to have greater financial stability, Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake, Minn., will join Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health.
