“MedExpress has set the highest standards of care quality, convenience and compassion for patients in the communities we serve,” said Larry Renfro, CEO of Optum. “We look forward to working with MedExpress to build on the exceptional care and services it provides today, and to expanding this progressive and successful approach to care to more communities across the country.”
MedExpress operates 141 urgent care clinics across 11 states and has plans to open 25 to 30 additional clinics this year.
This isn’t the first time Optum has acquired a provider. In 2012, it purchased Monarch Healthcare, a medical group in Irvine, Calif.
The terms of the agreement between Optum and MedExpress were not disclosed.
