Ohio Health Systems Consider Merger

Athens, Ohio-based O’Bleness Health System may become part of Columbus, Ohio-based OhioHealth, which operates eight hospitals, according to a report in Business First of Columbus.

Last month, O’Bleness signed a non-binding letter of intent with OhioHealth in order to open communications and the exchange of information before a merger could be finalized.

Included in the possible merger would be 70-bed O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, which currently is one of 10 affiliates of OhioHealth that cooperates with the health system on clinical programs, professional education and group purchasing.
