Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has completed its acquisition of Community Hospital of Stokes, a 53-bed critical access hospital in Danbury, N.C.
The Stokes County (N.C.) Board of Commissioners began searching for a new healthcare partner to purchase or lease and operate the county-owned hospital, according to a June 1 Novant Health news release. The commissioners selected Novant as their future healthcare provider on March 23.
Community Hospital of Stokes provides access to imaging, laboratory, surgical and emergency services, according to the release. It also includes a 40-bed skilled nursing unit offering rehabilitative and long-term care services.
In addition to the hospital, several Stokes County care locations have joined Novant Health, including an outpatient medical facility and several clinics.
The acquisition adds to Novant’s presence in Stokes County, which includes several primary and specialty care clinics in King, N.C. The system also recently opened a pediatric cardiology clinic in King and will open an adult heart and vascular clinic this fall.
