Michigan’s Spectrum Health Acquires Hospital, More Acquisitions Possible

Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids continues its bid for dominance of western Michigan healthcare with its new acquisition of 61-bed Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont, according to a report by the Grand Rapids Press.

Spectrum, which has six hospitals totaling 2,000 beds, has also entered into formal talks to partner with Munson Healthcare in Traverse City and continues to woo hospitals in Petoskey and Mecosta County.

Meanwhile, Spectrum is merging with Michigan Medical PC, the area’s largest physician group, and West Michigan Heart PC, largest group of heart specialists.
