A merger between Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, N.J., and South Jersey Healthcare in Vineland, N.J., is likely and may be announced before the end of the year, according to a report from News of Cumberland County.
The 305-bed Underwood-Memorial has been in serious talks with South Jersey since at least April, according to the report. One source has indicated that “the papers are filed and the due diligence is done,” according to the report, while another source said “there are just some negotiations left to complete.”
Underwood-Memorial is one of the last standing independent hospitals in South Jersey. South Jersey Healthcare currently includes 575 licensed beds.
