New York’s North Shore-Long Island Jewish and Nassau University Medical Center Consider Affiliation, Concerns Raised

North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, based in Manhasset, N.Y., and Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadows, N.Y., are currently in talks to expand their affiliation, but concerns have been raised by the Nassau County comptroller about the initial agreement, according to a Newsday report.

The two systems have had an affiliation for certain clinical services since 2005, but are currently rumored to be discussing the integration of public NUMC into private North Shore-LIJ, according to an East Meadow Patch report.

The Nassau County comptroller’s concerns focused on a lack of defined benefits for the integration, an undisclosed management fee to North Shore-LIJ and lack of alternative bids, among other issues, according to the East Meadow Patch report.

Following the concerns, North Shore-LIJ said it is working to revise the agreement but has not yet submitted a formal proposal.
