New Jersey’s Newton Memorial Hospital and Atlantic Health Systems May Merge

Newton (N.J.) Memorial Hospital and Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health Systems are expected to vote on a possible merger later this month, according to a New Jersey Herald report.

Atlantic Health Systems currently operates Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, N.J., and Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J., among other facilities.

The Sussex, (N.J.) County Board of Freeholders voted to draft a letter in support of their county’s Newton Memorial Hospital’s merger with Atlantic. Thomas Senker, president of Newton Hospital, requested the letter to demonstrate community support in the state approval process, according to the report.
