The departments — cardiac surgery as well as computational medicine and bioinformatics — will go live online in January, according to the report. The university has had cardiac surgery and computational medicine and bioinformatics as a part of the medical school since 1998 and 2005, respectively. However, increased need for cardiac care as well as research for both fields has spurred discussion of making two new departments.
