MedStar Health Completes Acquisition of Southern Maryland Hospital Center

Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health completed its acquisition of Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Md.

SMHC announced its plans to become a member of MedStar in July. According to the release, over the next five years, capital improvements and expansion efforts will occur at SMHC in order to meet the growing needs of the community, including the development of an outpatient pavilion for medical offices and a new parking structure. MedStar also plans to expand the size of SMHC’s emergency department, hospital lobby and critical care department to better serve patients.

SMHC is MedStar’s 10th hospital and seventh in the state of Maryland.
