Members of the Scranton, Pa., community have shown “overwhelming support” to sell its Moses Taylor Hospital to Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, according to a Times-Tribune report.
A public hearing on the transaction was held last night, where Moses Taylor executives and members of its medical staff praised potential effects of the proposed sale.
As part of the sale agreement with Moses Taylor, CHS has promised to invest at least $60 million in the Scranton hospital and its affiliate, Mid-Valley Hospital in Blakely, over the next five years. A sale price has not been released.
Plans for the sale were announced in July, shortly after CHS bought the former Mercy Hospital in Scranton, which is now known as the Regional Hospital of Scranton.
