MD Anderson seeks affiliation with UT San Antonio cancer center

Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Center revealed plans to affiliate with the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Cancer Therapy & Research Center to expand cancer treatment services throughout the state, according to the San Antonio Express News.

Under the terms of the agreement, the UT San Antonio center will be rebranded the UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center. Both the San Antonio center and MD Anderson will continue to operate as normal and will remain a part of the UT system.

MD Anderson officials will also assist in choosing an executive director to lead the newly rebranded facility.

San Antonio cancer center officials said the facility will reimburse MD Anderson for a portion of the costs incurred as a result of the affiliation. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, according to the article.
