Mayo Clinic Absorbs Satilla Health Services in Georgia

Mayo Clinic Jacksonville (Fla.) announced it has acquired Satilla Health Services, based in Waycross, Ga., effective March 1, and the health system will now be named Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.

Mayo will take over SHS’ $51 million in cash and cash equivalents, which can be used only toward capital expenditures.

Kenneth Calamia, MD, has been appointed CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross, while Robert Trimm, president and CEO of SHS, has been appointed chief administrative officer.

SHS was the parent of Satilla Regional Medical Center, a 231-bed acute-care hospital that serves a nine-county region in Southeast Georgia.
