The hospital is in talks with non-profit Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Clinic and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston as well as for-profit Steward Health Care System — which recently acquired Caritas Christi — and Vanguard Health Systems.
Northeast Hospital Corp. has so far only had preliminary discussions with the systems, and no timeline for a decision has been released.
Partners HealthCare, the largest hospital system in Massachusetts, has not approached Northeast about a deal. According to an anonymous source cited in the article, Partners has been advised by state regulators it would face tougher scrutiny for additional expansion due to its current market power.
