Massachusetts General Obtains License to Buy Cooley Dickinson Hospital

Massachusetts public health officials granted a license to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to acquire Northampton, Mass.-based Cooley Dickinson Hospital, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

The state's Public Health Council granted MGH's Boston-based parent company Partners HealthCare a determination of need certificate to acquire South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass.

Both potential transactions require further regulatory approval from state and federal agencies before they can be finalized.
