Long Island College Hospital Moves Forward With Merger Plans

Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., is moving forward with plans to merge with SUNY Downstate Medical Center, also in Brooklyn, according to a report in the New York Daily News.

The financially-troubled Long Island Hospital, which is managed by Continuum Health Partners, and SUNY have been in discussions regarding a possible merger for sometime, but the two groups recently formally acknowledged the partnership.

Details of the agreement still need to be worked out, and the merger must be approved by the state.
