LHP Hospital Group originally proposed the merger but has allegedly sent letters to officials at St. Mary’s and Waterbury stating that it intends to withdraw from the deal, according to the report. The two hospitals would not confirm or deny that they received said letters — only that all sides continue to discuss issues related to the potential merger.
In April, Waterbury Hospital’s board approved the merger, which would give LHP an 80 percent interest in the merger.
