Last month, Health Management notified state officials it intended to relocate its Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, Fla., to the southern part of Lee County. Noticing this, Lee Memorial gunned forward on its plans to build an 80-bed hospital on land purchased several years ago, according to the report.
NCH Healthcare System, a non-profit chain also based in Naples that runs the nearby North Naples Hospital, can object to a new proposed hospital in the area within three weeks of the final April applications, according to the report.
The two systems must submit details and projections for the projects by April 10, with a state preliminary decision expected June 7.
