Prime Healthcare and Landmark Medical signed an asset purchase agreement in early October. The deal was approved by Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein later that same month.

The Providence Journal reports that Hudson Holdco has offered to top Prime’s purchase offer by $4 million. Hudson Holdco owns and operates Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center, Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City, N.J.

Although Mr. Silverstein approved Prime and Landmark Medical’s deal, the state attorney general and the Department of Health must also approve the purchase.
