Lakeland Healthcare and Community Hospital in Michigan to Merge

A merger between Lakeland Healthcare in St. Joseph, Mich., and Community Hospital Watervliet (Mich.) is set to close by Dec. 1, according to a Business Review West Michigan report.

Directors of both hospitals approved the merger this week. Under the proposal, the 58-bed Community Hospital will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Lakeland. In addition, Lakeland has committed to upgrading Community by expanding its ED and converting public to private rooms.
