Lafayette General Health, American Legion Hospital Consider Lease Agreement

Lafayette (La.) General Health and American Legion Hospital in Crowley, La., have signed a letter of intent to consider a long-term lease agreement.

Under the agreement, Lafayette General would enter into a multiyear lease of American Legion and take over hospital management and operations, according to a news release. The relationship would result in expanded resources and more purchasing power for the hospital, allowing it to deliver care more efficiently and cost-effectively for better patient outcomes, according to the release.

Both healthcare organizations plan to hire consultants to help develop the structure of the agreement, aiming to finalize documents in the first quarter of 2014 and execute the partnership as soon as April. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
