Jennie Stuart CEO Eric Lee announced the news during a press conference at the hospital May 19.

The partnership is part of the medical center’s strategic plan, which the board of trustees’ strategic affiliation committee finalized in April 2014.

“The number one imperative of JennieStuartMedicalCenter’s strategic plan was that Jennie Stuart must continue its work in defining itself as the regional healthcare resource for the delivery of integrated care in western Kentucky,” said Mr. Lee, according to the report. “Our key strategy within this imperative was to pursue a clinical affiliation strategy with a nationally recognized, best-in-class healthcare system.”

Jennie Stuart Medical Center will join the Vanderbilt Health network, which includes 48 hospitals and 11 health systems, according to the report.
