Clarian Health is an Indiana-based, private, non-profit organization owning or affiliated with 18 hospitals and health centers throughout Indiana. CHS is a regional integrated network serving East Central Indiana. It operates Muncie, Ind.-based Ball Memoiral Hospital (326 beds) and Blackford Community Hospital (15 beds) in Hartford City, Ind, along with a few other ventures.
Under the terms of the merger agreement, CHS will combine with Ball Memorial and take on its name, with Clarian becoming the sole corporate member of Ball Memorial. Ball Memorial and Blackford Community will keep their names.
The merger will "expand Clarian’s statewide presence and make Ball Memorial Hospital its regional hub for the delivery of care in the East Central Indiana Region," according to a CHS press release.
“This collaboration addresses the needs of the region’s residents and combines the strengths of both Clarian and Ball Memorial Hospital/Cardinal Health System to create seamless, high-quality care and enhances service for patients in a more efficient and effective manner, which is the goal of both organizations,” said Daniel Evans Jr., president and CEO of Clarian Health, according to the release.
