CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System was set to acquire Wadley Regional Medical Center in late October and consolidate the two community health providers into a single system, but a revised letter submitted by CHRISTUS St. Michael was rejected by Wadley, according to the report.
Wadley has struggled because of the poor economy, and the acquisition was intended to keep the health system operating, according to KSLA. How the failed merger will impact the organization is unknown.
