The two groups signed a letter of intent yesterday and will now complete due diligence in anticipation of the merger. The hospital and health system have collaborated in other ways for the last decade, according to the report.
Representatives from Ottawa Regional stressed that the merger was not due to financial problems but in order to combine resources to enhance both group’s “position as a regional destination for outstanding medical care,” according to the report.
